Creating and maintaining culture typically requires resources beyond what is necessary for survival. Thus a possible reason why the growth of culturally advanced society is often accompanied by massive wastage, psycho-social problems, and/or wars. In light of this view, minority cultures should shake off the myth that their society is of inferior standing to larger or older cultures. Despite its destructive qualities, humans cannot avoid forming cultures. By adopting a more fluid attitude towards identity, it is perhaps possible to deflect or delay the formation of negative phase of cultural growth. Under such strategy, artistic personalities could lead the way by avoiding professional careers, participate in large scale projects, deal with cultural institutions, or do anything that may lead to the formation of a distinctive cultural form. Those with initial talent or interest should instead pass on their skills and interest on an intimate level, encouraging anybody and everyody to adopt the role once or several times during their life.
